X-Country or Downhill Skiing

For fun and fresh air in the winter months, visitors to the Beach House can cross country ski, snowshoe and snowmobile in the local area. Or you can explore the Five Islands Provincial Park. The Five Islands Park, located on the west side of Economy Mountain, has 6.5 km of tracked trails that are marked and mapped for easy and safe enjoyment.

For downhill skiing, the closest hills are at Wentworth Valley. Ski Wentworth has a vertical rise of 238 km and the longest run is 3.7 km. Night skiing is available and there is a snowshoe park and a snow-tubing park for these types of winter fun. Chair lifts, T-bars and 2 rope tows make it almost as easy to go up the hill, as it is to go down. For more information about skiing at Wentworth, call the Wentworth International Hostel (902) 548-2379 or visit www.skiwentworth.ca.
